Winter 2009
Happy New Year to all!
As temperatures dip into single digits and snow and ice cover the roads, we’ve shed our layers and moved indoors to the track at Babson College. (It was great to see all the skirts and shorts at our first workout!) We’ll be there through early April and Christine has promised some great short track speed workouts as well as some new strength training to complement our runs. We hope to see many of you there.
Winter is also the time to ramp up training for those upcoming longer spring races. We have quite a few members planning to run the New Bedford Half Marathon in March, the Boston Marathon in April, and the Run to Remember Half Marathon in May. Christine has developed two basic training plans to give us some guidelines for whatever our goals may be, so be sure to check them out as you work out your individual running schedules.
Also, our thanks to Dahri for organizing longer Friday runs along the (usually plowed) carriage road in Newton. That group meets in the parking lot of Star Market in Auburndale at 9 AM, unless the temperature is less than 10 degrees!
And finally, a big thank you to Allegra for hosting our Post-Holiday Pot Luck...it was fun opportunity to relax and socialize in regular...not running...attire!
Stay warm...and happy running,
Steph

Our SSRC runners ran so well that they won a catered dinner from Blue Ribbon BBQ....stay tuned to see how we will enjoy this prize!
